Garance is a Ph.D candidate in Political Science at the University of Montreal. She holds a master's degree in Social Sciences from EHESS (2013), majoring in Political Studies. Her first research focused on the emergence and appropriation of human rights language by Nicaraguan political actors during the revolutionary period (1979-1990), under the direction of Gilles Bataillon. Now under the direction of Françoise Montambeault at the Université de Montréal, and co-directed with Delphine Lacombe (CNRS), her doctoral study aims at extending these reflections, by focusing on the uses and interpretations of rights by human rights defenders in Nicaragua and Guatemala, in a comparative perspective.
