Julia Islas
My name is Julia Islas, I am of Mexican origin, and I have been admitted to the PhD program in Political Science at the University of Montreal. My research focuses on the impact of urban agriculture projects on public space in Mexico City. In 2020 I obtained my bachelor's degree in sociology at the Sorbonne University and in 2022 I obtained my master's degree in social sciences, cooperation and development in Latin America (specialized in sociology - research) at the Institut des Hautes Études sur l'Amérique latine (IHEAL - Paris III Sorbonne Nouvelle). In the context of this master's degree, I had the opportunity to conduct a research on the impact of urban agriculture on the reconfiguration process of women's urban experiences in Mexico City.
I have a strong interest in gender issues in public space, especially in countries like Mexico.
