Marc-André Anzueto
Associate Professor of International Development at the Université du Québec en Outaouais (UQO)
A political scientist by training, my research falls within the field of international relations and transnational history. I'm interested in the evolution of Canada's foreign policy in Latin America, and more specifically, the articulation between extractive policies and Canadian development aid and human rights policies. I have analyzed the role and influence of human rights non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and Canadian mining companies in Latin America since the mid-twentieth century. My most recent research, funded by the Fonds de recherche du Québec-Société et Culture (FRQSC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), focused on the ethical challenges of Canadian diplomacy in post-conflict states, in particular Guatemala, Colombia and Honduras.
My current research focuses on the following three main themes:
Canadian foreign policy in Latin America in the 21st century
Human rights and corporate social responsibility
Humanitarian aid and migration crisis management in Central America
