After earning a Bachelor's degree in International Studies from the Université de Montréal in 2022, Romain seized the opportunity in the 2022-2023 academic year to join the Landless Movement (MST) branch in Recife, Brazil. This experience solidified his interest in Latin American social movements, which had originally sparked during an anthropology internship in a Nahuatl community in Mexico. Upon returning to Montreal, Romain made the decision to enroll in a Master's program in political science at the Université de Montréal, with the aim of contributing to research on social movements, participatory democracy, and South-South cooperation in Central and South America.
