Valérie Sagine Toussaint is a Master's candidate in political science (concentration in feminist studies) at the Université du Québec à Montréal. She holds a bachelor's degree in law, political science and immigration from UQAM. As part of her dissertation project, she will examine the gendered violence specifically experienced by Haitian migrant women in the Caribbean after the 2010 earthquake, focusing on the intersectionality between gender and anti-Haitianism. Since 2021, Valérie has been been involved in community work, believing that change begins from the community. She is currently in charge of communications and activism at a women's center.
